Description
Plastic military model kit: Sd.Kfz. 234/3 Schwerer Panzerspahwagen 1:35 Rye Field Model 5134
Sd.Kfz. 234/3, also known as Schwerer Panzerspahwagen, was one of the variants of the Sd.Kfz. 234 family of vehicles that were designed and built in Germany during World War II. These vehicles were light but well-armed, making them ideal for reconnaissance and support tasks. The Sd.Kfz. 234/3 was equipped with a short-barreled 7.5 cm K51 L/24 gun, which was mounted in an open superstructure, replacing the standard turret. This allowed the vehicle to effectively support reconnaissance units, especially in combat against "soft" targets.
The production of this variant began in June 1944 and lasted until December of the same year, when production was switched to the 234/4 model. A total of 88 units of the Sd.Kfz. 234/3 were produced. This vehicle was powered by a Tatra V12 diesel engine, which provided it with adequate power and operational range.
