Plastic model for assembly of the German armored car and command vehicle Sd.Kfz. 247 Ausf. A from the World War II period. The set, released by First To Fight as part of the September 1939 series, also includes a historical booklet describing the vehicle and the background of the military operations.

History and construction of the original:
The Sd.Kfz. 247 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 247) was developed by the Krupp concern in response to the Wehrmacht's demand for a specialized command vehicle. The Ausf. A version was based on the chassis and suspension of the Krupp Protze 6x4 truck. The first units left the factory in 1937. The vehicle featured an open-top body built from armor plates up to 8 mm thick, which provided the crew with basic protection against shrapnel and small arms fire. It was powered by a 4-cylinder Krupp engine with 65 HP, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 70 km/h on paved roads.

Combat use:
These vehicles served mainly as mobile command posts in motorized and armored units. They took part in the September Campaign in 1939, the fighting in France in 1940, and the initial phase of Operation Barbarossa in the territory of the Soviet Union. Due to the drive on only the rear axles, their off-road capabilities were limited, which meant they performed best on beaten roads.
