Description
Plastic military model for assembly: Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf. A 1:72 First To Fight PL040
The Sd.Kfz 251 was a German medium half-track armored personnel carrier from World War II, which became one of the most recognizable vehicles of the Wehrmacht. This design was developed as the primary means of transport for mechanized infantry (Panzergrenadiers), allowing them to keep pace with armored divisions in combat conditions. The vehicle was based on the chassis of the heavy Sd.Kfz.11 tractor, and its characteristic sloped armor was intended to provide better protection against small arms fire.
The Ausf. A version was chronologically the first production variant. It was characterized by a specific arrangement of observation slits for the crew and a two-part hull side plate. The Sd.Kfz 251/1 was the basic version, intended to transport up to 10 infantry soldiers, usually armed with two MG34 or MG42 machine guns mounted on shields. These vehicles took part in all World War II campaigns, starting with the invasion of Poland in 1939.
