The Sd.Kfz.250 was a German light half-track armored personnel carrier from World War II. The first prototypes were built in 1939, and serial production lasted from 1940 to 1944, resulting in about 6,700 units produced. The Sd.Kfz.250 was powered by a 100 hp Maybach HL 42 TRKM six-cylinder engine.

The vehicle was developed as a light reconnaissance and multi-purpose vehicle for German armored and mechanized infantry divisions. During serial production, two hull versions of the Sd.Kfz.250 were produced: the first (designated alt) featured undercut side armor plates and a broken front armor plate. In 1943, the neu version was introduced, which was simplified: the hull sides were flat, as was the front armor plate. During World War II, a dozen or so variants and versions of the Sd.Kfz.250 were created. The Sd.Kfz.250/4 version was a light anti-aircraft defense vehicle (leichter Truppenluftschutzpanzerwagen), designed to protect subunits from air attacks.
