Plastic military model for assembly: Sherman Firefly Starter Set 1:72 Airfix 55003 The British Sherman Firefly is one of the most interesting modifications of the American M4 Sherman from World War II. It was created by mounting the powerful British 17-pounder gun in the turret of the standard Sherman. This modification allowed the Allies to effectively combat heavy German tanks such as the Tigers and Panthers. The Firefly was usually assigned at a ratio of one to four standard Sherman tanks. German commanders quickly learned to recognize the Firefly by its characteristic long barrel, so British crews often used camouflage paint on the front of the gun to make it resemble the standard 75mm version. This 1:72 scale starter set from Airfix is dedicated to those starting their adventure with modeling. The model features a simplified construction, which makes assembly easier for younger users and beginner hobbyists. The box contains a complete set of accessories necessary to finish the miniature.
