History and use of SH-60B Sea Hawk:

The Sikorsky SH-60B Sea Hawk is a multi-role helicopter developed based on the UH-60 Black Hawk model used by the United States Army. It is part of the Sikorsky S-70 family and was specifically designed for the needs of the U.S. Navy. Its main modifications include folding main rotor blades and a hinged tail, which allows for reduced space needed for storage on ship decks.

In the 1970s, the U.S. Navy began searching for a new helicopter to replace the Kaman SH-2 Seasprite model. As a result of a competition, in 1978, the Sikorsky S-70B design was selected, which received the designation SH-60B Seahawk. The first flight of the YSH-60B prototype took place on December 12, 1979, and the production SH-60B first took to the air on February 11, 1983. The helicopter entered operational service in 1984.

The SH-60B Sea Hawk is equipped with advanced sensor systems, including a towed magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) and sonobuoys. Other systems include the APS-124 search radar, the ALQ-142 ESM system, and an optional FLIR turret mounted on the nose. The helicopter's armament includes Mk 46, Mk 50, or Mk 54 torpedoes, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, and M60D/M240 or GAU-16 machine guns.
