South African Air Force Paint Set Vol. 1 6x17ml Hataka HTK-CS50

Acrylic paint set from the Orange Line series (Lacquer Based), developed in collaboration with SA Colours & Markings Publications. It contains a set of colors dedicated to painting aircraft of the South African Air Force (SAAF) from the 1970s to the 1990s.

In mid-1975, the SAAF introduced a standard camouflage scheme consisting of Deep Buff and Olive Drab colors on the lower surfaces of Light Admiralty Grey. Over time, this scheme evolved by replacing the Deep Buff color with Dark Earth. Both variants were extensively used during the border war in Angola (Angolan Bush War). Exceptions were the English Electric Canberra aircraft (entirely in PRU Blue) and the Blackburn Buccaneer (Dark Sea Grey over PRU Blue).

Contents of the set:

HTK-C204 BS Deep Buff (BS381C:360) - the color "Kalahari Sand", used on the upper surfaces in early camouflage patterns (Mirage III, Sabre Mk.6, Mirage F1, Impala).
HTK-C146 BS Olive Drab (BS381C:298) - used on the upper surfaces of most SAAF aircraft from 1975 to the 1990s.
HTK-C205 BS Light Admiralty Grey (BS381C:697) - the color of the lower surfaces in early and mid camouflage patterns.
HTK-C206 BS Dark Earth (BS381C:450) - used on the upper surfaces of most SAAF aircraft and helicopters in the later period.
HTK-C144 BS Dark Sea Grey (BS381C:638) - the color "Mirage Grey", used on the upper surfaces of Buccaneer aircraft and in the "diamond" scheme of Mirage F1 aircraft.
HTK-C207 BS PRU Blue (BS381C:636) - the color "PE Blue", used on the lower parts of Canberra and Buccaneer aircraft and in the "diamond" scheme of Mirage F1.
