Soviet air-to-air aircraft armament 1:72 ICM 72212

A set of plastic parts allowing for the creation of detailed underwing armament for modern Soviet and Russian fighters in 1:72 scale. The package was developed to enhance models of aircraft from the Su-27/Su-30 and MiG-29 families with precisely reproduced fourth-generation missile armament.

In the mid-1980s, a new generation of air-to-air missiles was designed in the Soviet Union, which still forms the core armament of the air forces of Russia, CIS countries, as well as India and China. The set includes a wide range of medium and short-range missiles along with dedicated launchers.

Set contents:

• 6 R-27ER missiles (NATO code: AA-10 Alamo C) - extended-range version with semi-active radar homing.
• 2 R-27ET missiles (NATO code: AA-10 Alamo D) - extended-range version with thermal homing.
• 6 R-77 missiles (NATO code: AA-12 Adder) - modern medium-range missiles with characteristic grid fins.
• 6 R-73 missiles (NATO code: AA-11 Archer) - highly maneuverable short-range missiles.
• Set of launchers: APU-470, AKU-470, APU-170 and APU-73-1D.

Technical specification of the originals:

• R-73 (AA-11 Archer): Short-range missile introduced into service in 1984-1985. Thanks to gas-dynamic control, it features exceptional maneuverability, allowing it to engage targets in close air combat.
• R-77 (AA-12 Adder): The response to the American AIM-120 AMRAAM missile. Equipped with unique grid fins, it reaches speeds up to Mach 4 and a range of up to 100 km.
• R-27 (AA-10 Alamo): A family of medium and long-range missiles with a characteristic aerodynamic layout, mainly used by air superiority fighters.

The set consists of 94 precisely made details made of grey plastic.

Set for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (including nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
