Description
Plastic military model kit: Soviet self-propelled gun ISU-152 1:35 Zvezda 3721
The ISU-152 is a Soviet heavy self-propelled gun from the World War II era, which earned the nickname "beast slayer" due to its ability to destroy the heaviest German tanks, such as Tigers and Panthers. Serial production of this vehicle began in November 1943 at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. The design was based on the chassis of the IS-2 heavy tank, which was a significant improvement over the earlier SU-152 model built on the basis of KV tanks.
The vehicle's main armament was the powerful 152.4 mm ML-20S gun-howitzer. The ISU-152 played a triple role on the battlefield: as a heavy assault gun supporting infantry in destroying fortifications, as a tank destroyer, and as a self-propelled gun for indirect fire. These vehicles played a key role in the final phase of the war, taking part in assaults on heavily fortified cities such as Königsberg, Poznań, and Berlin.
