Description
Plastic figure for assembly and painting: Soviet tank destroyers with dogs 1:35 Zvezda 3611
A model kit allowing for the construction of figures of Soviet soldiers and dogs trained to destroy tanks during World War II. In 1941-1942, due to a severe lack of effective anti-tank means, the Red Army used specially trained dogs as carriers of explosive charges. These animals were equipped with canvas bags containing 2 to 4 kg of explosives with an antenna fuse.
The dogs were taught to run under enemy tanks, where the antenna hitting the bottom of the vehicle caused the charge to detonate. According to historical data, these units destroyed over 300 German tanks during the war. These formations were disbanded in 1943 when the availability of conventional anti-tank weapons became sufficient.
