Description
Plastic model aircraft kit: Space Shuttle Orbiter & Boeing 747 "Shuttle Carrier Aircraft" 1:200 Hasegawa 10844
A model kit depicting a unique transport set, consisting of a space shuttle (Orbiter) and a specially modified Boeing 747 aircraft, known as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA). These aircraft were a key element of NASA's space shuttle program, serving to transport orbiters between research centers and launch and landing sites.
The 1:200 scale model faithfully reproduces the construction of both machines. The Boeing 747, designated N905NA, features the characteristic NASA livery and details such as crew and mission markings placed on the fuselage. The kit allows for the recreation of the configuration in which the space shuttle is mounted on the back of the transport aircraft.
Kit features:
- Scale: 1:200
- Manufacturer: Hasegawa
- Product code: 10844
- The set includes plastic parts sprues and a decal sheet
- Display stand for the finished model included
The Space Shuttle program was one of the most ambitious undertakings in the history of astronautics. Space shuttles, as the first reusable manned spacecraft, enabled the construction of the International Space Station (ISS), the deployment of satellites, and the conduct of advanced scientific research in Earth orbit. Transporting orbiters on the back of a Boeing 747 was necessary due to the shuttles' lack of their own atmospheric propulsion, which prevented them from moving long distances on their own after returning from a space mission.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, you will need separately sold modeling tools (e.g., nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
