Description
Plastic model kit for assembly: Sukhoi Su-25K 1:48 Smer 0857
The Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO reporting name: Frogfoot) is a Soviet, single-seat, heavily armored and armed ground-attack aircraft designed for close air support of ground troops. This machine was created in response to the American A-10 program. The prototype first flew on February 22, 1975, and the aircraft entered operational service in 1981. The Su-25 is characterized by extraordinary survivability in combat due to the use of a titanium tub protecting the pilot and the separation of the engines, which minimizes the risk of both propulsion units being damaged simultaneously.
The Su-25K version was an export variant that was supplied to, among others, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Iraq, and Angola. These aircraft took part in numerous armed conflicts, starting with the intervention in Afghanistan, where they proved their effectiveness in difficult, mountainous terrain, demonstrating high resistance to ground fire.
