Description
Plastic model aircraft kit: Sukhoi Su-7 BKL 1:48 Smer 0853
The Sukhoi Su-7 is a Soviet supersonic fighter-bomber with an all-metal construction, characterized by highly swept wings. Powered by a single Lyulka AL-7F1 engine, the prototype aircraft first flew on September 8, 1955. Although originally designed as an interceptor, the aircraft quickly evolved towards strike versions. The Su-7B variant became a key element of Soviet battlefield atomization doctrine, serving as a fast carrier of tactical nuclear weapons, capable of precisely eliminating important strategic targets and mobile troop columns.
The Su-7BKL version, which this model represents, was adapted for operation from unpaved airfields through the use of ski-wheel landing gear and rocket-assisted take-off (JATO) engines.
