History and achievements: The Supermarine Seafire F.XVII is the naval version of the legendary Spitfire, adapted for operations from aircraft carriers. The Seafire, which was the navy's answer to the popular Spitfire, amazed the world with its performance in the toughest conditions. With its folding wings, it could take off and land quickly on the decks of ships, making it a powerful tool both over land and sea.
The Seafire F.XVII was the first variant with a lowered rear fuselage and a distinctive teardrop-shaped canopy. With its reinforced structure, it could carry larger weapon loads, including fuel tanks and rockets under its wings. This aircraft served on the front lines until the early 1950s, after which it was reclassified for training duties.
The Seafire was used in many key operations during World War II, including the landings in Normandy and Operation Dragoon in southern France. In later years, it participated in the Korean War, carrying out hundreds of missions in a ground support and combat patrol role against North Korean forces.
