History of the original:

The Supermarine Walrus, also known as the "Shagbat," is a metal or mixed construction whose prototype took to the air in 1933. Approximately 740 units of this machine were produced between 1936 and 1944. It was powered by a Bristol Pegasus VI engine with 680 hp, which drove a pusher propeller. The Walrus was a unique design adapted for launching from ship catapults, allowing it to operate from the decks of cruisers and battleships. Equipped with ASV radar, it played an invaluable role in search and rescue (SAR) and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) missions.
