At the time of mobilization in August 1939, the Swiss Air Force had 96 fighters and 121 reconnaissance aircraft. During World War II, Switzerland, despite its neutrality, actively patrolled its airspace, leading to numerous incidents and air battles, particularly in 1940. The air fleet initially relied on German (Bf 109) and French (Morane D-3800) designs, eventually introducing domestic designs such as the EKW C-3603.
