Plastic model kit: T-34-85 Soviet medium tank 1:35 ICM 35367

The T-34-85 plastic model kit in 1:35 scale from ICM is an excellent choice for model enthusiasts and history buffs of World War II. This detailed set allows you to recreate one of the most iconic medium tanks used by the Red Army. The T-34-85, an upgrade of the earlier T-34 model, played a key role on the battlefields from 1944 to 1945.

Model features:

  • Scale: 1:35
  • Manufacturer: ICM
  • Catalog number: 35367

Includes parts to create four different marking versions:

  • T-34-85, 7th Guards Tank Corps, Germany, spring 1945.
  • T-34-85, 7th Guards Mechanized Corps, Germany, spring 1945.
  • T-34-85, 4th Guards Armored Army, Germany, spring 1945.
  • T-34-85, Germany, spring 1945.

History and design of the T-34-85: The T-34-85 was a response to the need for increased firepower of Soviet tanks in the face of new German machines such as the Panther and Tiger. Introduced into mass production in early 1944, the T-34-85 differed from its predecessor primarily by its new three-man turret and an 85 mm caliber gun. Production of this model was carried out in several factories in the USSR, and after the war also in Czechoslovakia and Poland.

The T-34-85 featured a classic design layout with sloped hull sides, which reduced the risk of penetration by anti-tank projectiles. It was powered by a diesel engine, and its main armament was the ZiS-S-53 gun with a caliber of 85 mm, capable of penetrating armor up to 138 mm thick at a distance of 500 m. Additionally, the tank was equipped with DTM machine guns and advanced targeting and communication systems.

Service and significance: The T-34-85 became the primary medium tank of the Red Army from mid-1944, gradually replacing earlier T-34-76 models. Its production continued until 1950, with a total of 44,000 units built. After the war, this tank was exported to many countries and participated in numerous armed conflicts, such as the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and wars in the Middle East. In Europe, it was last used in combat during the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995.
