Historical background:
The T-34 tank was one of the most important armored vehicles used by the Red Army during World War II. Its introduction to the battlefield revolutionized the way warfare was conducted on the Eastern Front. Equipped with a 76.2 mm caliber gun, the T-34 surpassed many contemporary tanks in terms of firepower. Its characteristic armor, sloped at a 60-degree angle, provided excellent protection against anti-tank weapons.
The T-34 was not only a symbol of Soviet military power but also an example of effective wartime production. Thanks to simplified production methods, this tank was quick and cheap to produce, allowing for its mass introduction into service. During the war, over 80,000 units of various T-34 versions were produced, making it the most widely produced tank of World War II.
Although its armor and armament were eventually surpassed by newer designs, the T-34 remained a key element of Soviet armored forces. Its design became the basis for later models, such as the T-44, T-54, and T-55, which in turn evolved into the T-62, forming the backbone of many modern armies.
