History of the T-34-85 tank:

The T-34-85 is a Soviet medium tank that played a key role during World War II. Its production began in early 1944 in response to the need to increase the firepower of the Red Army's tanks. The introduction of new German tanks, such as the Panther and Tiger, forced the USSR to modernize its main battle tank. The T-34-85 was equipped with an 85 mm caliber gun and a new three-man turret, significantly increasing its combat effectiveness.

The production of the T-34-85 was carried out in many factories across the USSR, and after the war also in Czechoslovakia and Poland. A total of about 44,000 units of this tank were produced. In the 1950s, the Soviet Union transferred 1,837 T-34-85 tanks to China, which were used by the Chinese People's Army and during the Korean War.

Participation in the Korean War:

During the Korean War, T-34-85 tanks were used by both North Korean and Chinese forces. A 1954 report on tank clashes in Korea indicates 119 confirmed or probable tank engagements in which American tanks were destroyed by T-34-85s. The Chinese claimed that their tanks destroyed a significant number of American vehicles towards the end of the war, when most of the North Korean T-34-85s had already been destroyed or captured.

Chinese version of the T-34-85:

After the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the USSR supplied many T-34-85 tanks to the Chinese People's Army. Although China did not produce these tanks independently, Factory 617 was able to manufacture all the parts needed for their repair and modification. Many of these modifications visually distinguished the Chinese T-34-85 from the original specifications. Production of the T-34-85 in China ended when China began receiving T-54A tanks and started producing the Type 59 tank, which is a licensed version of the T-54A.
