History of the Tiger I tank: The Tiger I, also known as the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E, was a German heavy tank used during World War II. Introduced into service in 1942, it became one of the most recognizable armored vehicles of that era. Equipped with a powerful 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun, the Tiger I was capable of effectively combating enemy tanks and fortifications. Its production lasted until August 1944, when it was replaced by the more advanced Tiger II model.
Although the Tiger I was considered an outstanding design, it was often criticized for its complicated construction and high production costs. This tank was also prone to breakdowns, especially in difficult terrain conditions such as mud or snow, which could immobilize its running gear.
Operation Citadel: The Tiger 1 Early Ver. Operation Citadel model refers to one of the most important operations on the Eastern Front – the Battle of Kursk, known as Operation Citadel. It was a German offensive conducted in July 1943 aimed at destroying Soviet forces in the Kursk salient. The Battle of Kursk was the largest tank battle in history and the last major strategic offensive by Germany on the Eastern Front.
The Germans planned to encircle and destroy the Soviet forces; however, thanks to excellent intelligence and preparations, the Red Army was able to effectively repel the attack. Operation Citadel ended in failure for the Germans, allowing the Soviet Union to take the strategic initiative on the Eastern Front until the end of the war.
