The Tiger I, also known as Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E, was one of the most recognizable heavy tanks used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Its production began in August 1942 and ended in August 1944, after 1,347 units were produced. This tank was armed with a powerful 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun, which was an adaptation of the famous Flak 36 anti-aircraft gun, known as the "eighty-eight".

The Tiger I was primarily used in independent heavy tank battalions, operating on both the African front and in the Soviet Union. Although it was considered an outstanding design for its time, it was criticized for its overly complicated construction and costly materials and production methods.
