Drones have become a key element of contemporary warfare, fundamentally changing the way combat operations are conducted. Modern armed conflicts often utilize hundreds, if not thousands, of drones in a single day of fighting. Particularly dangerous are kamikaze drones, which can be both small units weighing a few kilograms and large platforms similar in size to aircraft.

Larger drones pose a serious threat as they attack rear areas, which often have limited traditional air defense. In response to this threat, Ukraine has formed mobile fire groups known as "Drone Hunters." These units operate from various vehicles, mainly pickups, but also from military vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns or small-caliber anti-aircraft guns. Sometimes these groups are reinforced by operators of portable air defense systems (MANPADS). While most mobile fire groups consist of trained soldiers, some are formed from volunteers.
