Plastic military model kit: U.S. Army 1/4 Ton 4x4 Utility Truck 1:24 Academy 13547
A plastic model kit depicting the legendary American passenger-off-road vehicle from the World War II period – the U.S. Army 1/4 Ton 4x4 Utility Truck, commonly known as the Willys Jeep.
History of the original:
The Jeep Willys (Willys MB) is one of the most recognizable symbols of the American war effort during World War II. It was created at the request of the US Army, which in 1940 announced a need for a light reconnaissance vehicle with four-wheel drive. Although the initial design was developed by American Bantam Car Company, Willys-Overland, after improving the design and using a more powerful engine, won the contract for mass production. Nearly 650,000 units of this vehicle were produced between 1940 and 1945. The Willys featured a 60 HP engine, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 105 km/h. Thanks to the Lend-Lease program, it reached almost all Allied armies, serving on every front of the war – from the sands of North Africa, through the jungles of the Pacific, to Europe.
Model characteristics:
The Academy kit in 1:24 scale allows for the construction of a detailed replica of this historic vehicle. The model features precise reproduction of the silhouette as well as details of the chassis and cabin interior.
