Description
Plastic military model kit: U.S. Army 1/4 ton armored truck 1:35 Takom 2131
A plastic model kit depicting the American 1/4-ton armored truck, commonly known as the Willys Jeep, in a variant with additional ballistic protection. This iconic off-road vehicle was a key element of Allied logistics and mobility during World War II.
The Willys Jeep (Willys MB) was developed in response to the US Army's 1940 requirement for a light four-wheel-drive reconnaissance vehicle. Although the original design belonged to American Bantam Car Company, it was Willys-Overland that ultimately became the main producer, thanks to a more powerful engine and refined mechanical design. Armored versions were field or factory modifications intended to increase crew survivability during reconnaissance and patrol tasks in areas of direct contact with the enemy.
Original characteristics:- Weight: approx. 1.1 tons
- Length: 3.36 m
- Width: 1.57 m
- Engine: 60 HP
- Top speed: up to 105 km/h
- Production: nearly 650,000 units of all versions between 1940-1945
