USAF, USN & USMC Paint Set (Modern Greys) 8x17ml Hataka HTK-BS44

Acrylic paint set from the Blue Line series, optimized for brush painting, containing standard camouflage colors of US aircraft used since the late 1970s.

In the late 1970s, the American air forces began to introduce a new standard for aircraft camouflage, often referred to as the Tactical Paint Scheme (TPS), consisting of various shades of gray. It first appeared in the USAF on F-15 and F-16 aircraft (and F-4 in the Hill One scheme), and on A-10 machines only after Operation Desert Storm. USMC aircraft (including Harriers) adopted the TPS scheme after experiences from Desert Storm, which showed the low effectiveness of earlier camouflage in desert conditions. Other naval aircraft (USN and USMC) began to wear TPS from 1980 (A-4 and F/A-18) and 1981 (other types). The introduction of F-35 aircraft and the new Have Glass 5 coating on F-16 brought the FS36170 color into use.
