Vallejo Pigment from the Pigment FX series is a finely ground modeling powder designed to create effects of weathering and soiling on models and dioramas. The Burnt Sienna shade is useful for simulating rust deposits, dried mud, dust, and signs of aging on metal and earthy surfaces.

Vallejo pigments are prepared in such a way that they easily mix with water-based liquids and typical modeling media. This allows you to work with them in several ways, depending on the effect you want to achieve.

"Dry" application
The pigment can be applied directly to the model surface with a brush. This method is useful for delicate dusting, deposits, and subtle dulling of details.

"Wet" application
The pigment can be applied as a suspension – after mixing with a thinner or an appropriate medium/pigment binder. This facilitates building up more intense soiling, streaks, and accumulations of dirt in recesses.

Fixing the effect
To permanently attach the pigment to the surface, dedicated media (e.g., matt medium or pigment binder) are used. This helps maintain the effect after drying and during further finishing work.

Applications
Burnt Sienna pigment is often used for rust and aging effects on metal parts (e.g., exhausts, shields, tools), as well as for making earthy surfaces on bases and dioramas more realistic. It also looks good as a component in mixtures with other pigments when you want to achieve more complex, multi-toned soiling.

Tip: you will achieve the most natural results by combining several shades of pigments and applying them in layers, graduating the intensity of the soiling.
