Description

Loose pigments are one of the basic tools for creating realistic signs of wear and tear and the effects of atmospheric conditions on models. Chrome Oxide Green (73112) from the Vallejo Pigment FX series is a pure green pigment that works well for simulating mineral deposits and efflorescence appearing in humid environments, as well as for subtly "dirtying" surfaces in shades of green.

The pigment can be used dry, by rubbing it onto the surface with a brush, applicator, or sponge. This method is useful for quickly highlighting recesses, edges, and areas where dust and sediment naturally accumulate. Depending on the substrate and application method, the effect can be delicate and "dusty" or more intense. If you need more control over the spreading of dirt, the pigment can be mixed with water-based liquids, acrylic resins, or turpentine. This allows for creating streaks, irregular stains, and local accumulations of sediment. Vallejo pigments are micronized, which facilitates their dispersion and mixing with modeling media. To permanently fix the pigment to the surface, it is worth using a dedicated fixer (e.g., Vallejo Pigment Binder) or a matte medium. Fixing is particularly important on frequently touched parts and on models that will be transported. After fixing, the pigment retains the character of the dirt while becoming more resistant to abrasion. Chrome Oxide Green works well with other pigments and special effect products. Mixing it with other shades allows for building more complex color transitions, and combining it with pastes and structural masses allows for creating thicker, three-dimensional deposits. In practice, this allows the effect to be adapted to the scale, type of vehicle/object, and diorama scene. Applications
