Supermarine Walrus:
The Supermarine Walrus is a British single-engine biplane amphibian designed by R. J. Mitchell of Supermarine. It was the first British squadron aircraft to feature fully retractable landing gear, an enclosed crew cabin, and an all-metal fuselage. Initially named the Supermarine Seagull V, this aircraft first took to the skies in 1933. Its design began four years earlier as a private initiative. The Walrus was designed as a fleet reconnaissance aircraft, launching from catapults on cruisers or battleships, and also served as a patrol aircraft.
The Supermarine Walrus entered service with the Royal Australian Air Force in 1935 and was subsequently adopted by the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Air Force (RAF), the Royal New Zealand Navy, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force. During World War II, Walruses were used for anti-submarine warfare and by the RAF Search and Rescue Force to rescue personnel from the sea. After the war, these aircraft continued to be used, with some finding application in civilian missions in Australia and Antarctica.
Fairey Seafox:
The Fairey Seafox is a British reconnaissance aircraft from the 1930s, designed and built by Fairey for the Fleet Air Arm. The Seafox was designed to launch from catapults on the decks of light cruisers and served during World War II. A total of 66 units were produced, of which two were completed without floats and used as landplanes.
