Plastic model aircraft kit: Yak-23 / Yak-23 1:72 Smer 0915

A plastic model kit depicting the Soviet jet fighter Yak-23 (NATO reporting name: Flora). This is a kit from the Czech manufacturer Směr, released in a refreshed edition in 2024. The Yak-23 aircraft was one of the first jet designs introduced into service after World War II, characterized by straight wings and an engine placed in a step-down configuration.

History of the original:
The Yakovlev Yak-23 was developed in the late 1940s as a light interceptor fighter. Although its career in the Soviet Union was relatively short due to the appearance of more modern machines with swept wings (such as the MiG-15), the Yak-23 was an export success. It was a key element in the modernization of the air forces of Eastern Bloc countries, including Poland, where it became the first mass-produced jet fighter in service. Poland purchased nearly 100 units of these machines, which served in frontline units until the mid-1950s.

Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, you will need separately sold modeling tools (e.g., nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
