This is a plastic model of the Japanese destroyer Yukikaze of the Kagero class (Koh) in 1:350 scale. The kit includes additional photo-etched parts and a model of the Kawanishi H8K (Emily) in the same scale.
History of the original:
Yukikaze was the eighth destroyer of the Kagero class and the only one of the eighteen built units of this class that survived World War II, earning the nickname "unsinkable" or "lucky" ship. The keel for the unit was laid in 1938, and it was commissioned into the Imperial Japanese Navy in January 1940. The ship participated in almost all major battles in the Pacific, including the Battle of Midway, the Guadalcanal campaign, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the Leyte Gulf. In April 1945, it took part in Operation Ten-Go as an escort for the battleship Yamato. After the war, it served in the Chinese fleet under the name Tan Yang until 1956.
