Description
Plastic military model kit: ZiL-131 1:35 ICM 35515
The ZiL-131 is a Soviet and Russian off-road truck with a payload capacity of 5 tons, which became one of the most recognizable designs of its type in the countries of the former Eastern Bloc. Work on the vehicle began in the early 1960s as a successor to the ZiL-157 model, and mass production at the Moscow ZiL plants started in 1967 and continued until 2002.
The vehicle is characterized by all-wheel drive (6x6 configuration) and high off-road capability, which made it the primary means of transporting infantry and cargo in the Soviet Army and Warsaw Pact countries. Powered by a 150 hp V8 engine, the ZiL-131 was valued for its reliability in harsh climatic conditions, although this was offset by very high fuel consumption, reaching up to 150 liters per 100 kilometers off-road. Numerous specialized superstructures were mounted on its chassis, including tankers, field workshops, and BM-21 Grad rocket launchers.
