History of the T-34/85 tank: The T-34/85 tank was the response to the need for increased firepower of Soviet armored forces in the face of new German tanks such as the Panther and Tiger. Introduced into mass production in early 1944, the T-34/85 differed from its predecessor mainly by having a larger 85 mm gun and a new three-man turret. The production of the tank quickly ramped up, and by the end of the war, it had become the primary tank type in the Red Army.
Design and armament: The T-34/85 was built in a classic design layout with a hull featuring sloped sides, which reduced the risk of penetration by anti-tank rounds. Its main armament was the ZiS-S-53 85 mm gun, capable of penetrating armor up to 102 mm thick from a distance of 1000 m. The tank was also equipped with a DTM machine gun and advanced targeting and communication systems.
Service and production: The T-34/85 played a key role in many battles of World War II, and after the war, it was produced in Czechoslovakia and Poland. In Poland, from 1951 to 1957, 1400 units of this tank were produced. The T-34/85 was used in many armed conflicts around the world, including the Korean and Vietnam wars, as well as in wars in the Middle East.
Historical significance: The T-34/85 tank is considered one of the most successful armored designs in history. Its production and upgrades lasted for many years, and the tank itself became a symbol of Soviet military power. In Poland, the T-34/85 was the first tank produced on a mass scale, which had a significant impact on the development of the national arms industry.
