History and application: The F-16 Fighting Falcon, developed in 1974 by General Dynamics, is the most widely produced light fighter in the world. Its design features a high degree of standardization of parts and systems, making it extremely versatile and easy to maintain. Since August 2024, the Ukrainian Air Force has begun using these multirole fighters, which can be armed with AIM-9 and AIM-120 missiles as well as precision bombs such as SDB, JDAM-ER, and GBU-39.

One of the key elements of the Ukrainian F-16s is the use of ECIPS+ electronic warfare systems, which disrupt enemy radar operations. The first reports of the use of F-16s by the Ukrainian Air Force appeared in late August 2024, when these aircraft participated in air defense during a massive missile and drone attack. In the winter of 2025, F-16s also began conducting strikes on ground targets using precision GBU-39 bombs.
