History of the wz. 1902/26 gun:

The 75 mm field gun wz. 1902/26, also known as "Orthodox" or "Putilovka," was a modification of the Russian wz. 1902 guns. After Poland regained independence in 1918, the Polish Army had a diverse range of artillery equipment, including captured Russian 76.2 mm guns. Between 1926 and 1930, as part of the equipment unification, these guns were re-calibrated to 75 mm, allowing for the use of common ammunition with French wz. 1897 guns.

The wz. 1902/26 guns were the primary armament of horse artillery divisions, which provided fire support for cavalry units. With a low center of gravity, these guns were stable during fast rides and sharp maneuvers. Since 1928, these guns supported infantry regiments, providing direct fire support. Some guns were mounted on armored trains, increasing their firepower.

Participation in the September Campaign:

During the September Campaign of 1939, the wz. 1902/26 guns were used in horse artillery divisions and infantry artillery platoons. In clashes with German tanks, these guns proved effective, especially during the battle of Mokra, where the Volhynian Cavalry Brigade destroyed several dozen German vehicles.
