Vehicle history: The G917T Truppenluftschutzwagen is one of many 3-ton trucks that formed the backbone of the Wehrmacht's transport fleet during World War II. Produced at Ford's factories in Cologne since 1939, this model was widely used on various war fronts. Between 1939 and 1941, approximately 25,000 units of this vehicle were produced.

Some of these trucks were converted into improvised self-propelled anti-aircraft platforms. Such modifications included the installation of anti-aircraft guns, such as the 2 cm Flak 38, on the vehicle's cargo platforms. This gun was characterized by its reliable construction and high rate of fire, making it an effective tool for short-range air defense. In addition to combating aircraft, it could also be used to attack lightly armored ground targets.
