History and usage: The Panzerkampfwagen III, designed by Daimler-Benz AG, was one of the main tanks used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Initially armed with a 37 mm gun, it was quickly upgraded to a version with a 50 mm gun to better combat the more heavily armored Allied tanks. The Ausf. J version, produced from March 1941, featured increased armor and was armed with a long-barreled 50 mm KwK 39 L/60 gun, making it more effective in combat against Soviet T-34 and KW-1 tanks.

The Panzer III tanks were a key element of German armored divisions, especially on the Eastern Front and in North Africa. In the North African campaign, known as the "Desert War," these tanks participated in many significant battles, including at El Alamein. Their task was to support heavier tanks, such as the PzKpfw VI Tiger, and to protect infantry from enemy attacks.

The Panzer III Ausf. J was produced until mid-1942, with production ending in August 1943.
