History and use of Kfz. 13:
The Kfz. 13 was introduced into service in the 1930s, and by 1935, 147 units of this light armored vehicle had been delivered. The vehicle was based on the civilian Adler Standard 6 car and was equipped with all-wheel drive. Nevertheless, its off-road capabilities were limited, and the additional weight of the armor led to overheating issues.
Kfz. 13s participated in the invasion of Poland in 1939, where their thin armor proved vulnerable to Polish anti-tank weapons. They then took part in the French campaign, where their effectiveness was somewhat higher due to better roads. These vehicles were also used in the Balkans and during the invasion of the Soviet Union, where all units sent there were destroyed by 1941. After that time, the remaining vehicles were withdrawn from active service and used only for training purposes or by second-line units.
