Historical background: The Humber Mk. I Scout Car was introduced into service in 1942 and was produced until 1945. This vehicle was designed for reconnaissance tasks and communication between armored units. Its construction provided protection only against light fire, making it unsuitable for frontline operations. However, due to its small size and high speed, the Humber could quickly evade threats.
Although the British army initially chose the Daimler Dingo as the primary reconnaissance vehicle, the need for more such vehicles led to production being commissioned to other companies, including Humber. As a result, a vehicle similar to the Dingo was created, but with some design differences, such as the lack of an armored bottom.
The Humber Mk. I Scout Car was used by various British units, including the 11th Armoured Division and the Guards Armoured Division. These vehicles were also supplied to other Allied countries, such as Poland and Czechoslovakia. After the war, Humbers were used by European armies and also by the Belgian police until 1958.
