History and use of the M113: The M113 is a fully tracked armored personnel carrier developed by FMC Corporation. First introduced into service in 1960, the M113 quickly became the primary armored vehicle of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Its lightweight aluminum construction allowed for air and amphibious transport, making it extremely versatile.

During the Vietnam War, the M113 was used to break through dense underbrush and attack enemy positions. It was known as "APC" (Armored Personnel Carrier) or "ACAV" (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) among allied forces.
