History of the 100 mm wz. 14/19 howitzer:
The 100 mm wz. 14/19 howitzer is a Czechoslovak design that was developed as an improvement of the earlier M.14 model, produced since 1914 for the Austro-Hungarian army. After the end of World War I, Czechoslovakia resumed production of this weapon in a modernized version, which allowed for an increase in its range by extending the barrel to 24 calibers (2.4 m).
In Poland, this howitzer was produced under license from 1928 at factories in Starachowice, and later also in Stalowa Wola. At the outbreak of World War II, the Polish Army had about 900 units of this type of howitzer, which were a significant element of the equipment of light artillery regiments.
The wz. 14/19 howitzers were used in the September campaign of 1939, where their tactical and technical qualities were comparable to other European light howitzers. They were towed by horses and also adapted for towing by artillery tractors in the 1st Motorized Artillery Regiment. Additionally, these howitzers were used in armored trains and as armament for river monitors of the Pinsk Flotilla.
After the capitulation of Poland, many of these howitzers were seized by German troops and used on various fronts under the designation 10-cm leFH 14/19(p). Some of them also ended up in the Italian army.
