History and background of the construction:
The armored car wz. 34 was a development of the earlier wz. 28 model, which in turn was based on Citroën-Kegresse chassis. In 1933-1934, in response to the modernization needs of the Polish Army, these vehicles were converted to a wheeled version, which improved their mobility and reliability. During the modernization process, components from the Polski Fiat 614 truck were used, allowing for the creation of three variants of the vehicle: wz. 34, wz. 34-I, and wz. 34-II, differing mainly in the engines and rear axles used.
The wz. 34 armored cars were a key reconnaissance element of the cavalry brigades of the Polish Army. During the September campaign of 1939, they were used to fight against saboteurs, border skirmishes, and to support the cavalry. Although most of them were destroyed or abandoned by mid-September, their crews showed great courage and determination in defending the country.
After the September campaign, several vehicles were captured by the Germans, but they were not used in the Wehrmacht. There are also unconfirmed reports of some vehicles being handed over to the Ustaše in 1941.
To this day, no original specimen of the wz. 34 car has survived, but there are replicas built based on available documentation.
