Historical description:
Soviet partisans were members of resistance movements that waged guerrilla warfare against Axis forces during World War II in the territory of the Soviet Union, as well as in the territories of interwar Poland previously occupied by the USSR from 1941 to 1945 and eastern Finland. Their activities began after the launch of Operation Barbarossa by Nazi Germany in mid-1941. It was coordinated and controlled by the Soviet government, and its structure was modeled on the Red Army.
Soviet partisans played a significant role in the war, countering German plans for the economic exploitation of the occupied territories of the USSR. They supported the Red Army through systematic attacks on the German communication network behind the front lines, disseminated political propaganda among the local population by publishing newspapers and leaflets, and effectively created and maintained a sense of insecurity among Axis forces.
The activities of Soviet partisans also included Polish and Baltic territories occupied by the USSR from 1939 to 1940. However, in these areas, they had significantly less support and often clashed with local national partisan groups and the German auxiliary police controlled by the occupier.
Set for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
