Historical background: The T-34 tank was one of the most important armored vehicles used by the Red Army during World War II. Its introduction to the battlefield revolutionized armored warfare due to the combination of powerful armament, sloped armor, and mobility. Initially armed with a 76.2 mm gun, the T-34 was able to effectively engage most German tanks in the early stages of the war.
In 1944, in response to improvements in German tanks such as the Panzer IV and Tiger, the T-34 was upgraded to the T-34-85 version. The new version was equipped with a larger turret accommodating three crew members and a more powerful 85 mm gun, significantly enhancing its combat capabilities. With these changes, the T-34-85 could more effectively fight against heavier German tanks like the Tiger and Panther.
The production of the T-34-85 continued until the end of the war, and its simple design and production efficiency allowed for mass manufacturing, giving the Red Army a numerical advantage on the battlefield. In total, over 22,000 units of this version were produced, making it one of the most widely produced tanks in history.
The T-34-85 was not only a symbol of Soviet military power but also an example of industrial efficiency. Its design influenced future tank projects, and its legacy is evident in later models such as the T-54 and T-55. Even after the end of World War II, the T-34-85 was exported to many countries and used in various conflicts around the world.
