The plastic model kit: T-50 ROKAF Advanced Trainer 1:72 Academy 12519 is an excellent proposition for aviation and modeling enthusiasts. This model represents the advanced South Korean training aircraft T-50 Golden Eagle, which is one of the few supersonic training aircraft in the world. Developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, the T-50 is South Korea's first indigenous supersonic aircraft.

History and development of the T-50 Golden Eagle: The development of the T-50 began in the late 1990s, with its first flight occurring in 2002. The aircraft entered service with the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) in 2005. The T-50 has been developed into various variants, including the T-50B, TA-50, and FA-50. The T-50B variant is used by the South Korean aerobatic team.

The T-50 is in service in several countries around the world. Iraq received 24 units in 2016, and Indonesia has been operating 16 TA-50 aircraft since 2014, with an additional six ordered in 2021. The Philippines has 12 FA-50 aircraft, and Thailand ordered 12 T-50TH units in 2015. In 2022, Poland ordered 48 FA-50 aircraft, and in 2023, Malaysia ordered 18 of the latest Block 20 variants.

Technical specifications of the T-50: The T-50 Golden Eagle resembles the F-16 Fighting Falcon, although it is 20% smaller. The aircraft has seating for two pilots in a tandem configuration. The cockpit, developed by Hankuk Fiber, provides excellent visibility and is tested for ballistic protection. The aircraft reaches a maximum altitude of 14,600 m and is designed for 8,000 hours of service. It has seven internal fuel tanks with a capacity of 2,655 liters and the ability to carry an additional 1,710 liters in three external tanks.
