F-4E Phantom II:
The F-4 Phantom II is an American, two-seat, twin-engine interceptor and bomber, capable of operating in all weather conditions. It was developed by McDonnell Aircraft for the United States Navy and entered service in 1961. Soon after, it was adopted by the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, becoming one of the main components of their air forces.
During the Vietnam War, the F-4 Phantom II was widely used as the primary air superiority fighter for the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps of the United States. Later, it also served as an attack and reconnaissance aircraft. During this conflict, all five American soldiers who became aces achieved this while flying the F-4.
The F-4 Phantom II was one of the most important combat aircraft of the Cold War era. A total of 5,195 units of this model were produced, making it the most widely produced American supersonic military aircraft in history. It was used by the armed forces of 11 other countries, including Israel and Iran, where it participated in numerous armed conflicts.
