The Douglas SBD Dauntless, also known as the Scout Bomber Douglas, was a two-seat dive bomber and reconnaissance aircraft that played a key role in many battles in the Pacific during World War II. Its design was based on the earlier Northrop BT-1 model, and with modifications, it became one of the most reliable carrier-based aircraft of that era.

The SBD Dauntless became famous primarily during the Battle of Midway, where its crews sank four Japanese aircraft carriers, marking one of the turning points in the Pacific War. This aircraft was also used in the Battle of the Coral Sea, where it contributed to the sinking of the Japanese carrier "Shōhō" and the damage of "Shōkaku".
