History of the Vickers E tank: The Vickers E tank, also known as the Vickers Mark E or Vickers 6-Ton, was designed by the British company Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd in 1928. It was one of the most widely used tanks in the world before World War II, right after the Renault FT-17. Its innovative design became the basis for many other models, including the Soviet T-26 and the Polish 7TP.
Design and armament: The Vickers E was available in two main versions: the twin-turreted Type A, armed with two machine guns, and the single-turreted Type B, equipped with a 47 mm gun coupled with a machine gun. The tank featured a novel suspension system that provided smooth driving and a rational layout for its three-person crew.
Export and combat use: Although the British army did not adopt the Vickers E for service, this tank found buyers in many countries, including the USSR, Greece, Poland, Bolivia, Siam, Finland, Portugal, China, and Bulgaria. In Poland, these tanks were used in the September campaign of 1939, and their design served as the basis for the creation of the Polish 7TP tank.
Impact on the development of armored warfare: The Vickers E had a significant impact on the development of tanks worldwide. Its design, especially the suspension, inspired many other projects. In the USSR, over 12,000 T-26 tanks were produced based on the Vickers E, which played a key role in the armed conflicts conducted by the USSR until 1945.
