Plastic model car kit: Mazda RX-7 FD3S (R1) 1:24 Tamiya 24116
The third generation RX-7, FD (chassis code FD3S for Japan and JM1FD for North America), featured an updated body design. The 13B-REW engine was the first mass-produced engine with a sequential twin-turbocharging system exported from Japan, increasing power to 255 PS (188 kW; 252 hp) in 1992 and ultimately to 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) by the end of production in Japan in 2002.
The chief designer was Yoichi Sato. Another key designer was Wu-huang Chin, a Taiwanese automotive artist who also worked on the Mazda MX-5 Miata.
In Japan, sales suffered due to this series' non-compliance with Japanese dimension regulations, and Japanese buyers paid annual taxes for the non-compliant width of the car. As the RX-7 was now considered a luxury sports car of a higher class due to its increased width dimensions, Mazda also offered two smaller alternatives, the Eunos Roadster and the Eunos Presso hatchback.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
