Mitsubishi A6M Reisen (from Rei-shiki kanjo-sentoki (i.e. carrier-based fighter model 0) - although it did not have an official name in Japanese), also known as Zero, and in US nomenclature Zeke - is a Japanese fighter aircraft from World War II - it was one of the best fighters in the early period of the war. The first flight of the aircraft took place on April 1, 1939, it was produced from 1940 to 1944, with a total of 10,936 units manufactured. Due to its combat capabilities, it earned respect among the Allied air forces.
