History and significance of the Panther tank: The Panzerkampfwagen V Panther, also known as the Panther, was one of the most important tanks used by the Wehrmacht during World War II. It was introduced into service in 1943 as a response to the Soviet T-34 tank, which surprised the Germans with its effectiveness on the Eastern Front. The Panther was known for its excellent balance between firepower, armor, and mobility, making it one of the best medium tanks of that period.
The Panther Ausf. A was the second production version, which introduced a number of improvements over the D version, including better armor and a more reliable drive system. Its distinctive silhouette with sloped armor plates was designed to enhance protection against anti-tank projectiles.
Model features:
- The model represents the Ausf. A version, which was produced from August 1943.
- The kit includes detailed parts such as additional tracks, tow cables, and tools.
- The set includes figures: a tank commander and a half-figure of the driver.
- Movable hatches allow for the presentation of the tank's interior.
- Long 75 mm gun, which was one of the most effective in its class.
Use in battles: Panther tanks were used on all fronts where German armed forces fought. They particularly gained fame during battles on the Eastern Front, where their ability to destroy Soviet tanks was highly valued. Although the Panther had its technical problems, its impact on the course of battles was significant.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
